eSIM or physical SIM: what to check before your Korea trip
A mobile plan is easier to choose when you start with your phone and itinerary. An eSIM and a physical SIM can have different compatibility, delivery and activation requirements.
Start with your phone
For an eSIM, check that your exact phone model supports eSIM and can use the selected network. For a physical SIM, check the required SIM size and whether your phone has a suitable slot. Your phone should be unlocked for use with another provider.
Read the plan details
Compare the high-speed data allowance, the speed after that allowance is used, the usage period and any activation deadline. Check whether calls, SMS and hotspot use are included; these differ between products.
Plan your first connection
Before departure, save the installation instructions and any collection details. Follow the selected product’s timing for installation and activation. Do not assume every plan starts its usage period in the same way.
